The discovery of the art of handstitching, a love at first sight. Years spent studying in Italy and abroad, in leather artists’ workshops to absorb an ancient and rare art and then translate it into a refined and functional way.
Thus was born Bottega Gerbi, a place where the style of the most refined European leather goods is expressed through the production of wallets.
Italian, French and exotic leathers, together with shapes, textures and colours expertly worked and combined to create a unique wallet, reflecting one’s own sense of style.
Saddle stitching is a strictly handmade two-needles seam that uses a single thread for greater resistance and integrity over time.
It was born many centuries ago, but it was in the creation of saddles for horse riding that it established itself as the main technique for leather goods.
The thread used in the production phase is linen in its finest width (0.35/0.45 mm) which, through previous waxing, manages to combine quality and resistance with refined elegance, giving each wallet a unique and precious style.
We only use by-products. There is no specific production of leather for the articles. All are obtained from the food sector. For exotic leathers we only use CITES registered and certified leathers in compliance with rules for the protection of species.
